Sacrifices Of Fools -Concluding Remarks

1 Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you!

2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten.

3 Your gold and silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have heaped up treasure in the last days.

Indeed the wages of the labourers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.

5 You have lived on the earth in pleasure and luxury; you have fattened your hearts asin a day of slaughter

[James 5:1-5]

Some relatively rich people behave as if it’s a crime to work for them. They’ll toss you over and over before paying you. Sometimes, they’ll even fragment the payment and will mostly underpay you. It’s as if they’ve done you a favour by paying you for what you’ve legitimately earned. You have to tell one sorrowful story or the other, such as; you have nothing to eat, your spouse or child is hospitalised, your landlord is at your throat, your children have been sacked for school or classes fees etc. for them to give you something small. Oh Jesus!

Some believe you have to cheat someone in order to enrich yourself. That’s the worldly system of thinking. We have the mind of Christ and ought to think like Jesus. Will Jesus treat any of His workers like that?  Certainly not.

Because the blessings of the Lord aren’t on the riches unjustly gathered, even the gold and silver which should endure forever have also corroded (v 3).

The sad thing is people heap all these down, die and leave them behind for others to dissipate and litigate over. Some people’s estates haven’t been administered for 10 years since their demise because of litigation. By the time it’s all other, most of the property are destroyed, buildings cracked and the moneys in the bank accounts have depreciated and valueless. Yet, this is why they withheld the proceeds of the sweat of other people’s labour and displeased their Maker.

Let’s use God’s principles to make wealth as children of God. Any wealth God didn’t give you isn’t yours. Let’s not be wise in our own eyes. If we cheat our workers and give to church, we’ve given the sacrifices of fools and God says He does not delight in fools.

The Lord bless and keep us. May we be people centred and have a heart like His for the underprivileged and down trodden. That’s how our rewards will be great in heaven. No sorrows on the Judgment Day in the Name of Jesus. Amen
