The Power of Vision

14 And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are—northward, southward, eastward, and westward;

15 for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever.

16 And I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; so that if a man could number the dust of the earth, then your descendants also could be numbered.

17 Arise, walk in the land through its length and its width, for I give it to you.”

[Genesis 13:14-17]

God knows how to comfort His people. He wanted Abraham to know that despite the fact that Lot chose the juiciest part of the land, Abraham had nothing to worry about.

God wanted Abraham to have a mental picture of what God was doing and would do way into the future. He therefore asked Abraham to lift up his eyes to the four cardinal points. God said He would give Abraham and his descendants all the land as far as he could see. Abraham was also to walk through the land and as a prophetic act of claiming it for his descendants. This was actualized some Five Centuries  later. God is a generational thinker, as Pastor Mensa Otabil would want us to do.

What are you also seeing? Bible says without vision, people perish. Where do you see that marriage ten years from now? What about your business, career and professional development? That course is frustrating you. Instead of seeing yourself dropping out and quitting, see yourself graduating and it shall be. You can’t quit when God isn’t done!

Around 1980, Bill Gates gave Microsoft the company he founded, a clear mission: “A computer on every desk and in every home”. It sounded so crazy at the time that every house would have a desktop computer. Today, that vision is more than a reality. Now, we have more than desktop computers. Through miniaturization, we have laptops, tablets and smartphones, doing the same things a desktop does and even more.

What do you see? The Lord open our eyes to see deep into the future for the betterment of our own lives and that of humanity as a whole. Amen
